UW Trustees Alter Meeting in Laramie; Sternberg Not Present

UPDATE 4:00 p.m. -  University of Wyoming officials say a "major announcement" regarding UW's administration will be made at 5:00 p.m.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m. - LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees remain in executive session in Laramie amid dissatisfaction with new President Bob Sternberg.

The trustees were in their fifth hour of meeting behind closed doors Thursday afternoon.

A planned public comment period and other regular agenda items were postponed.

UW spokesman Chad Baldwin says the board was discussing personnel issues.

Sternberg has been under fire in recent days over how he is managing the state's only public four-year university.

Sternberg took over the job on July 1. Since then, five administrators and three deans have decided to leave their jobs.

Some left because of differences with Sternberg, while others left for other reasons.

Law school Dean Steve Easton, who is resigning effective Friday, has openly challenged Sternberg's ethics.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is holding an extended executive session in Laramie amid dissatisfaction with new President Bob Sternberg.

The trustees met behind closed doors for nearly three hours Thursday morning before breaking for lunch. UW President Sternberg was not present at today's meeting.

A planned public comment period was postponed until Friday.
