While Laramie does have a few nice places to take your kids swimming, with the Recreation Center hands down being the best option in town, there is not a major water park in the immediate area. Fortunately Water World in Denver is only two hours away and can make for a great getaway to entertain kids and adults alike.

Going to a water park can be a bit pricey, as this year’s tickets to Water World range anywhere from $30 to $40 a person depending on their age, but most of the time you can find a plethora of discounts on everything from soda cans to coupons in local businesses that will help out your wallet. The park also gives a discount if you buy your tickets in advance on their website. Parking is free at Water World and in the past, food prices at the park have actually been very reasonable. When it comes down to it, the price of entry isn’t all that bad considering the wide range of activities the park offers and that you won’t have to repeatedly go down the same slide over and over again all day.

New for 2012, Water World is opening their first Hydro-Magnetic Watercoaster that they are calling the “Mile High Flyer.” While their website isn’t specific, it says that the brand new 4.5 million dollar attraction opens in June for the first time after a period of testing is complete. The watercoaster sends visitors not only splashing down a water slide but also uphill using a system of magnets installed in the slide and its rafts. The park will also add one more attraction to its strong lineup of popular rides called “Double Dare,” a new speed tube slide.

Overall Water World is a great way to spend a summer day, especially if you are looking to entertain kids who are out of school. For more information on the park and its other attractions, make sure to visit their official website. There is also a neat aerial tour of the park that you can watch below:
