What’s In A Wyoming Name? – Converse County

Subscribe to Y95 Country on

In 1867, a 25 year old from Massachusetts, Amasa Converse, arrived in Cheyenne and set up shop selling hardware and home furnishings. Needing help, he asked a man from his hometown to join him — Francis Warren, who would become Wyoming’s first governor. They thrived as business partners. Then Converse went north and organized a cattle company of his own. He contributed business sense to his adopted state – and a name to Converse County, Wyoming.
