As winter continues to pack a powerful punch this year, Laramie Fire Fighters urge residents to remain cognizant of fire safety. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, 67 percent of winter fires occur in single- or double-story homes, and approximately 905 people die from winter home fires each year.

Laramie Deputy Fire Marshall Bill Bershinsky says that everyone should at least know the location and proper use of their fire extinguishers. “One thing to note, even if you know how to use a fire extinguisher please always, always call the fire department," he said.

The following video discusses the different types of extinguishers and illustrates the effective use of each.
