Winter Storm Warning for Laramie Valley

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Laramie area.

According to the National Weather Service Website for the Laramie region, a quick moving  storm will bring snow, gusty wind, and colder temperatures to Southeast Wyoming and into the Nebraska panhandle Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

The snow is expected to spread from west to east over the area Tuesday night, with snow continuing over the Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges.  The snow will be heavy at times by late evening and continue through Wednesday morning.

The NWS is also advising that along with the snow, they are expecting strong northerly winds gusting as high as 40 mph.  The winds are expected to produce blowing and drifting snow over much of the area later Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

Officials are advising against travel in the area.  If one must travel, listen to the latest weather forecast, use extreme caution when approaching and driving over railroad crossings.  Take along a winter survival kit.  If you become stranded in a rural area, stay with your vehicle until help arrives.  To keep warm in your vehicle until help arrives.  To keep warm in your vehicle, run your engine 10 minutes each hour, and make sure the exhaust pipe is clear of snow to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
