CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A panel of Wyoming lawmakers recommends approval of a $219 million guaranteed maximum price for restoration of the state Capitol in Cheyenne.

A consultant presented the figure Monday to a subcommittee of the Capitol Building Restoration Oversight Group.

Cheyenne Republican Senator Tony Ross is group co-chairman. He says the price came in about $50,000 under budget.

Ross says work on the Capitol and the neighboring Herschler Building is set to be complete in the second quarter of 2019.

State office workers already are out of the Capitol. Recent work has included investigation of building conditions. Ross says the investigation will save money by removing doubt up front about the extent of necessary restoration.

The full oversight group including Governor Matt Mead will consider final approval of the price Wednesday.
