Wyoming Main Street is celebrating its ten year anniversary with a series of events in each community.  Wyoming Main Street is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and emphasizes revitalization of downtown areas.

Close to home, the Laramie Main Street Alliance celebrates ten years of being in the community in March. Executive Director Trey Sherwood has been with the program since March 2009.

Sherwood says Laramie will be celebrating the milestone with a series of monthly celebrations. While all monthly celebrations are not set in stone, many ideas have been proposed for the monthly festivities.

For January, Laramie Main Street plans to present an overview of the last ten years to the Laramie City Council. The presentation will be followed by dessert and beverages at the office to thank their volunteers.

Sherwood says that plans for the monthly celebrations will be finalized during upcoming meetings and announced in the coming weeks.

In celebration of ten years in Laramie, the Main Street Alliance is working to make all their yearly events bigger and better.

“We want to make all of our existing events even bigger,” says Sherwood.

These traditional events include things like the Downtown Mash Up, Laramie Jubilee Days, Historic Walking Tours, Laramie Brewfest, Scaramie, and more.

In addition, Sherwood says they are working hard to continue beautification projects throughout the year. Sherwood says volunteers are working hard to install more artistic bike racks on the blocks which have not yet seen them.

The very popular mural project, which was cited along with the new bike racks as a contributing factor to Laramie’s Main Street of the Year Award, will also continue in 2015.

“We have three murals being proposed for 2015,” says Sherwood. “Two of them will be alley murals that will be collaborative, so we are looking for some additional artists to help with that.”

Downtown Laramie will also see more holiday decorations as part of the improvement projects for the year.
