One man was pronounced dead Thursday morning following a rollover crash on Interstate 80 near Rock Springs.

Brian Sanford, 42, was not wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred at 6 a.m. near milepost 100 in Sweetwater County, according to a crash report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

According to the report, Sanford was driving a Hyundai eastbound on I-80 before the vehicle drove into the median, hitting a delineator post and then a cable barrier post.

The Hyundai then veered sharply to the right, crossing both eastbound lanes and exiting the roadway to the right. The Hyundai then rolled about one and a half times, coming to rest on its roof facing southwest on the service road on the south side of I-80.

Sanford was thrown from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The roadway was dry and weather was clear at the time of the crash. Investigators believe Sanford may have been fatigued or asleep when the crash occurred.
