When it comes to energy efficiency, Wyoming ranks pretty low and there's one stat in particular that causes us to plummet.

That stat: auto-energy efficiency.

WalletHub.com just released the most and least energy efficient states based on two stats, home energy and auto energy. The survey was done in observation of National Energy Awareness month.

The lower-48 states were ranked and Wyoming finished very last, 48th in auto-energy efficiency. Wyoming ranks just below North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. Meanwhile states who drive the most energy efficient vehicles are, in order, New York, Florida, California, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

However, Wyoming fared pretty well when it comes to home-energy efficiency, ranking 10th. States that beat Wyoming in home energy consumption include, in order, Vermont, Utah, Minnesota, New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Massachusetts.

South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama rank lowest in home energy consumption.

With the two categories combined, Wyoming ranks 36 of the 48 states for overall energy efficiency.
