With winter weather expected again on Sunday night and into Monday in much of Wyoming, residents are being urged to make sure they are ready.

Tim Troutman, the warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Riverton, says having a vehicle winter safety kit in your car is a must. The kit should include non-perishable food, water, essential medications, blankets, flashlights and a first aid kit.

Troutman also says people also should dress for winter weather.

"We have heard too many stories of people wearing shorts and sandals when driving across Wyoming," Troutman said. "Those won't do you much good if you are stranded or are in an accident."

He also advised people to charge up their cell phones before hitting the road and reminded people to check road and travel conditions. Updated travel conditions are available online or by calling 511. Smartphone users can also use the WYDOT smartphone app, which offers pre-trip and en route travel information.

The app is available for both Android and Apple phones.

Weather conditions are available at 1-800-211-1148 or online. The National Weather Service in Wyoming also is active on facebook and twitter.
