Wyoming football fans haven't had a lot to cheer during the last two seasons. As dismal as our win-loss record has been, one player is rewriting the record books in Laramie.

Wyoming's Brian Hill is well on his way to becoming the greatest running back in school history. Heading into his junior season, Hill already owns the single season records for rushing yards (1,631) and yards per game (135.9).

Hill is likely to break the all-time career rushing record this fall. The All Mountain West Conference running back ran for 2,427 yards in his first two seasons, trailing current career rushing record holder Devin Moore (2,963) by only 536 yards.

Hill is also a virtual lock to break the career record for rushing yards per game, set by Myron Hardeman, who averaged 107.2 yards per game from 1977-1978.

With 426 career rushing attempts, Hill is a safe bet to pass Wynel Seldon on the career carries list. Seldon had 636 carries for the Cowboys from 2005 to 2008. Hill will also likely establish a new school record for rushing attempts per game, set by Frosty Franklin from 1969 to 1971.

The only school rushing record Hill is not on schedule to break is for rushing touchdowns. Following his sophomore season, Hill has rushed for 13 touchdowns. Eddie Talboom holds the mark with 34 career rushing touchdowns from 1948 to 1950.

Wyoming's best player now has his sights set on the national stage. He was recently added to the the 2016 Maxwell Award Watch List, which honors the best player in the country.

In 2015, Hill ranked eighth nationwide in yards per game, ninth in rushing yards, and 13th in all-purpose yards from scrimmage per game (146.9).

Wyoming football fans are witnessing history. Enjoy it while you can, because the greatest running back to ever wear the brown and gold has two seasons of eligibility left.
