The state of Wyoming is putting up $1 million to help fund stabilization work at a landslide site that destroyed one home and threatened several other homes and businesses south of downtown Jackson last year.

Teton County reports that the State Loan and Investment Board approved the funding on Thursday, June 18th.

It will fund a portion of the long-term slope stabilization work and to restore permanent water, sewer and street access to the Budge Drive neighborhood.

A portion of a hillside in the neighborhood gave way in April 2014, forcing the evacuation of scores of area residents.

The Town of Jackson is overseeing the planning and future implementation of the slide mitigation work.

It estimates the project will require approximately an additional $7.5 million to complete.
