Wyoming Territorial to Host 5th Annual Statehood Celebration

The Wyoming State Territorial Prison will host the 5th annual statehood celebration on Monday, July 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wyoming State Territorial Prison Superintendent Deborah Amend says that although Jubilee Days has long served as Laramie's celebration of Wyoming's statehood status, the Jubilee Days committee approached the Territorial Prison in 2012 about hosting festivities to commemorate the anniversary of Wyoming becoming the 44th state on July 10, 1890.

Amend also states that the event is "our way of giving back to the community. It's a celebration for everyone that lives here and in the surrounding area."

Festivities will start at 11 a.m. with the posting of the colors and an appearance from Miss Laramie Jubilee 2017 Morgan Wallace and her court, followed by a free hot dog lunch for the first 700 people to attend the event.

The day will continue with Craig Ingram performing a trick roping demonstration at noon, and with a concert from Buffalo Bill Boycott and Dr. Jo in the Horse Barn Theatre at 1:30 p.m.

Other activities during the event include: a vintage car display, a money scramble, rain gutter boat races, and stagecoach rides.
