Wyoming senior Bailee Cotton has been named the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in her career Monday.

Cotton led the Cowgirls to victories over Denver, 78-74, last Tuesday, and Idaho, 64-61, last Saturday.

For the week, the senior from Denver averaged 14.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. Cotton shot 52.6 percent from the field (10-19), and 69.2 percent at the free throw line (9-13). She added three steals and two assists.

This marked the first time since Jan. 23, 2017, a Wyoming Cowgirl basketball player earned MW Player of the Week honors. That was the last of four times former Cowgirl Liv Roberts received the honor during her junior season.

Cotton scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in the win over the Pioneers. It was her first double-double of the season and sixth of her career. Cotton followed that with 13 points and eight rebounds in the win against Idaho. She played at least 30 minutes in both games.

The Wyoming Cowgirls are off for finals at UW and will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 20 versus South Dakota State. That game will start at 6:30 p.m.
