Kathleen is a former state historian and archaeologist for Wyoming, Kansas, and Nebraska for the U.S. Department of the Interior. She is perhaps best known for her First North Americans series, co-authored with husband W. Michael Gear.

Jennifer was just published by High Planes Press. Her book "Soap Suds Row: The Bold Lives of Army Laundresses" tells the hard stories of some women you may have never considered. They followed the troops as laundresses traveling alongside the soldiers during two of the most important conflicts in United States history.
