LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A top shooter for Wyoming is charged with aggravated assault for his alleged role in a Laramie bar fight.

The fight happened at the Buckhorn Bar around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 30. A police affidavit says witnesses saw 22-year-old Luke Martinez kick a man in the face while he lay on the ground.

Police arrested Martinez on Sunday and the Associated Press reports Martinez was arraigned Tuesday.

According to the affidavit, the victim was punched out by another Wyoming player. The subsequent kick from Martinez allegedly fractured his jaw in multiple places.

Martinez fractured a bone in his hand in the fight. He was unable to play the next three games and was suspended indefinitely Monday.

Martinez is a senior guard who was averaging more than 14 points per game.
