A Sharp-Shinned Hawk Feeds on Sparrow During a Wyoming Storm [VIDEO]
In some stories, the birds we see in nature have messages for us. The osprey may tell us where the fish are. The raven brings words from Oden. But what story does this hawk have to tell?
The sharp-shinned hawk is the smallest of North American hawks, according to AllAboutBirds.com. Its small size with long legs and tails makes it an agile flyer. It takes advantage of the many wooded areas in Wyoming. It aided the hawk today, but it was not the advantage of the sparrow.
As gruesome this may be to some, it is all part of the struggle to stay alive in the Wyoming wilderness. The photographer, James Yule, noticed this from the experience inside the description of the YouTube video:
Every bird they kill gets consumed almost entirely except for the feathers; there is almost no waste.
There are somethings we could still learn from nature.
