The Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Association of Wyoming says it is working with Governor Matt Mead and the Wyoming Department of Health to develop an alzheimer's plan for the state.

Janet Lewis says the cowboy state is one of only five states that doesn't have such a plan.

She says the plan would cover a wide range of topics, including such things as training first responders in how to deal with victims of the disease and developing regulations for the care of alzheimer's victims.

Another major component would be making sure that caregivers for alzheimer's victims, who are often senior citizens themselves, have the resources they need to properly care for victims of the disease.

Lewis says her group will be looking for citizen involvement in developing the plan as the process moves forward.

She says at some point bills will have to be presented in the legislature to help make the plan a reality, but says that probably won't happen right away.
