Starter Juan Nicasio and the Colorado Rockies (11-11) combined to beat the hottest team in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers (16-7) 6-2 last night in Denver. Nicasio got the win pitching six good inning, and the Rockies bullpen was strong. The two teams meet up again tonight at 6:40 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Rockies Lose To Mets in 11, Host Dodgers Tonight
Tying the game with a Todd Helton pinch-hit grand slam in the eighth, and again with a solo Carlos Gonzalez home run in the tenth, proved not to be enough as the Colorado Rockies (10-11) fell to the New York Mets (13-9) 6-5 in 11 innings yesterday afternoon in Denver. The Rockies host the Los Angeles Dodgers (16-6) tonight at 6:40 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Rockies Split Double-Header with Pirates, Host Mets Friday
The Colorado Rockies (9-9) won the first game of yesterday’s double-header against the Pittsburgh Pirates (8-10) at PNC Park 2-1, but the dropped Game 2 to the Pirates 5-1, giving Pittsburgh the series win. After a travel date today, the Rockies return home to host the New York Mets (10-8) tomorrow night at 6:10 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).
Late Single Leads Rockies Over Brewers 4-3
Michael Cuddyer was out of the lineup last night with an injured toe, but it wasn’t enough to keep him from delivering a pinch-hit single in the ninth to drive in the winning run and lift the Colorado Rockies (7-6) over the Milwaukee Brewers (6-8) 4-3 at Miller Field. Juan Nicasio recorded his first win following last year’s season-ending neck injury, throwing 6 1/3 innings, leading the Colorado Rockies (6-6) to an 8-4 win over the San Diego Padres (3-10) at Coors Field. The Rockies, who went 5-4 in their first homestand of the season, hit the road for a weekend series that starts tomorrow night in Milwaukee.

49-year old left-hander Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher in major league history to earn a win last night, throwing seven innings en route to a Colorado Rockies (5-6) 5-3 win over the San Diego Padres (3-9).
