The Wyoming Cowboys chances to win the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl increased with the announcement that junior quarterback Josh Allen will play in Friday's game.

Head coach Craig Bohl made that statement during the Wyoming Press Conference this morning in Boise, ID.

Bohl said that he and Josh had a long talk.

"Josh is ready to play and start in this football game. He's had several great practices, and so he's in position to be 100 percent."

Allen joked that his shoulder felt ready when they were bowling for charity on Monday in Boise.

"It's been progressively getting better. It's now to a point where I feel like I'm making all the throws I normally would without any pain."

Allen was also asked about the recent popularity of college players with high pro prospects to not play in bowl games.

"Never thought to sit out voluntarily. I'm not that type of guy. I want to play. This is a team I've been on for the last three-and-a-half years, and I owe a lot to Coach Bohl for extending me the offer to play at the University of Wyoming, and I felt like I owed it to my teammates. These are my brothers, and missing the last two games killed me, so getting back on the field is something I really felt like I needed to do."

Bohl added, "Josh is uniquely gifted. He can do a lot of special things. For me, I've coached 35 years, and very few times have I seen quarterbacks be able to do some of the things he does. The "X" factor that maybe some of the people in the media have seen, but I've certainly lived it is just his competitive nature, and that spills out to our entire football team."

Bohl also mentioned that Allen's decision to play his final game is what college football is about. He also commented that in conversations with pro general managers, that they all want to know about his 'will to win,' and that is a 10 out of 10.

The Cowboys have gone 0-2 without Allen as its starting QB. Allen has been recovering from a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder.

Wyoming plays Central Michigan Friday at 2 p.m. from Albertsons Stadium.
