Candidates wanting to run for local and state office can begin filing next Thursday.

Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee says her office will begin accepting applications for county offices -- including commissioner, assessor, treasurer, clerk, coroner, sheriff, clerk of district court and district attorney -- at 8 a.m. on May 17.

Application forms can be picked up at the clerk's office and must be returned no later than 5 p.m. on June 1, the last day for filing.

Lee says the list of candidates who have filed will be updated on the clerk's website by 5:30 p.m. every weekday during the filing period.

Candidates running for Cheyenne City Council will need to file with the City Clerk's Office and those seeking a state office will need to file with the Wyoming Secretary of State's Office.
