Ron Hoffman was the big winner at the 2018 Wyoming State Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Worland. Hoffman's 1,200-pounder was one of three gourds that tipped the scales over 1,000 lbs.

The Riverton resident set the state record in 2016 with a massive 1322-pound pumpkin. During the last decade, Hoffman has grown seven of the ten largest pumpkins in Wyoming history, including another 1,300-pounder last year.

Hoffman is one of several pumpkin farmers across the Cowboy State. Cheyenne resident and former state record holder Andy Corbin documents his crop on the website PumpkinFantatic.com. Jay Richards, who took third place, hosts the annual event in Worland.

The highlight of this year's Weigh-Off was the Giant Pumpkin Drop. One of Hoffman's gigantic gourds was hoisted by a crane, then dropped onto a car below. Check out the carnage, courtesy of Yule Photography.
