You may remember the 2017 data breach with Equifax, but did you know they were ordered to pay anyone who was affected by the inconvenience? Many people had their identities stolen, had to hire attorneys to clear their credit, or spent hours changing passwords and making sure their information was safe again. Now, Equifax has to compensate those people.

The Federal Trade Commission recently approved a $425 million settlement with Equifax that will be used to compensate victims, with some consumers eligible to receive up to $20,000 for their troubles.

You can check here to see if you're one of the ones that had their data compromised, as well as file a claim for your trouble. If you were you are entitled to free credit monitoring or $125 cash, as well as other compensation depending on how much you were impacted by the breach up to $20,000.
