
MW Players of the Week: Plascencia Kicks Way Into Record Books
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., – The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week have been announced for Week 9.

New Mexico tight end Cade Keith has been tabbed the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, while Boise State senior corner back Jeremiah Earby was named MW Defensive Player of the Week and San Diego State senior kicker Gabe Plascencia is the MW Special Teams Player of the Week.
The MW awards are the first for each player:
OFFENSIVE PLAYER/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
CADE KEITH, NEW MEXICO
Redshirt Freshman, Tight End, Las Vegas, Nevada/TCU
• Had seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in New Mexico’s 33-14 win over Utah State.
• His reception and yardage totals were both career highs.
• His 40-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter was a career-long reception.
• Four of his seven catches went for first downs.
• Was the top-rated tight end in the FBS this week per PFF, with a 96.2 grade.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JEREMIAH EARBY, BOISE STATE
Senior, Corner Back, East Palo Alto, California/California
• Had four tackles and a career-best two interceptions in Boise State’s 24-3 win over Nevada, which secured bowl eligibility for the Broncos for the 28th straight year, which is the second-longest active streak nationally.
• All four of his tackles were solo efforts.
• Had Boise State’s first multi-interception game since 2022, picking off passes in the second and fourth quarters, with the latter coming in the end zone for a touchback.
• Helped the Bronco defense limit Nevada to just 147 passing yards and 3 points.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
GABE PLASCENCIA, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Kicker, Oakland, California/ College of San Mateo
• Scored 11 points in San Diego State’s 23-0 win over Fresno State in the battle for the Old Oil Can, helping the Aztecs become bowl eligible.
• Tied his career high with three field goals, converting from 42, 50 and 27 yards.
• Claimed sole possession of the MW record for consecutive field-goal makes, as he has now hit 25 straight dating to last season.
• Moved to 13-for-13 on the season.
