LARAMIE -- Nothing beats the pageantry of the Rose Bowl.

The rugged Mountains. The swaying palm trees. Pasadena's pink sunsets.

It's not just that, though, it's the paint job on the field. The strikingly green grass. The way the faithful are split right down the middle, school colors on full display.

That's the same way I feel about this week's Red River Rivalry.

This annual meeting between Texas and Oklahoma is one I've always dreamed of attending. I couldn't care less about either team, though I tend to pull for the Longhorns in this one. My grandma's family is from the Sooner State. Only they would never call it that. They are Oklahoma State fans. The hate is real.

I also have a soft spot for UT because they actually came and played in Laramie back in 2009. They certainly didn't have to do that, but they did.

I love watching this matchup. Not only is it typically damn good football with some of the best athletes in the region, the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is unmatched, in my opinion, when it comes to a regular-season atmosphere.

Burnt orange on one side, crimson and cream on the other.

You have the Big Bertha, Bevo and the Sooner Schooner. The fact that this game takes place during the Texas State Fair just adds to the scene. If that game is ever moved to Jerry's World in Arlington it would be a travesty.

Give me the 'Horns this Saturday. Big.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
