COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Players of the Week have been announced for Week 8. Boise State sophomore running back Dylan Riley has been tabbed the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, while Air Force sophomore defensive back Roger Jones Jr. was named MW Defensive Player of the Week.

Falcon senior placekicker Reagan Tubbs is the MW Special Teams Player of the Week and Hawai‘i quarterback Micah Alejado earned Freshman of the Week honors.

The MW award is the eighth for Alejado, third for Riley and first each for Jones and Tubbs.

 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DYLAN RILEY, BOISE STATE

Sophomore, Running Back, Moreno Valley, California/Rancho Verde HS
• Rushed for a career-high 201 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in Boise State’s 56-31 win over previously undefeated UNLV.
• His rushing total is the highest in the MW this season.
• His average of 13.4 yards per carry was the fourth-highest in a game in program history and the highest among FBS players with at least 10 carries this week.
• Recorded long runs of 65 and 49 yards, totaled 84 yards after contact and forced five missed tackles.

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROGER JONES JR., AIR FORCE

Sophomore, Defensive Back, Huntingtown, Maryland/Huntingtown HS
• Had a team-high 10 tackles and an interception in Air Force’s 24-21 win over Wyoming.
• Included in his 10 tackles were six solo stops and a half tackle for loss.
• His interception came in the end zone in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 14. The Falcons would go ahead to stay on the ensuing drive.
• Helped Air Force to its first MW win of the season.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

REAGAN TUBBS, AIR FORCE

Senior, Placekicker, Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS
• Went a career-best 3-for-3 on field goals and accounted for 10 points in Air Force’s 24-21 win over Wyoming.
• Learned midweek that he had earned the starting nod after kicking just one field goal in his career prior to Week 8.
• Converted field goals from 32, 29 and a career-long 40 yards, with his final kick going into the wind.
• His final field goal came with 3:04 left in the contest, made it a two-possession game and ended up being the final margin.

 

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

MICAH ALEJADO, HAWAI‘I

Redshirt Freshman, Quarterback, Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman HS
• Completed 26 of 38 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns to lead Hawai‘i past Colorado State 31-19 and earn bowl eligibility for the first time since 2021.
• Notched three touchdown and threw for at least 300 yards for the third straight game.
• Is the only FBS quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards and three TDs in three consecutive games this year.
• Threw touchdown passes of 17, 75 and 9 yards.
