The sophomore quarterback completed just a dozen throws for 108 yards and was picked off once. He also fumbled near midfield in the second quarter when Utah defensive end John Henry Daley came screaming around the left edge and swatted the ball from his right hand.

The Cowboys converted just 3-of-12 third downs. They entered the red zone once. That unit, which is returning 80% of its overall production from a year ago, rolled up nearly 90 yards of its 229 total on the final two drives of the night.
