You've heard the old saying, "work smarter, not harder".

That's certainly true when it comes to shoveling snow during the cold, snowy, Wyoming winters.

Last winter, we all did our fair share of snow shoveling and with record setting snow totals across the state of Wyoming, it didn't seem we would ever be rid of snow. Luckily if did finally melt and eventually we thawed out, but here we are again.

There's already snowpack in the high country and snow has covered the ground across the state. Like it or not, our snow shovels are going to get a workout again this winter. Knowing this, I've been looking around for ways to keep my back in good health, by living by that old "work smarter, not harder" mentality.

Scrolling through Facebook, I noticed there was a company selling Heated Snow Melting Mats...WHAT? I can lay a mat down on my driveway, sidewalk and steps and not have to worry about scooping snow? I'm in...WELL, except that it costs quite a bit of money to have that luxury.

Back to the "smarter not harder" search I go and found something a little more my speed and financial ability.

YouTube user named @Johnny Rock, has snow removal figured out and all it took was an old, blue tarp.

It's always a good idea to plan ahead for upcoming winter storms, we always try to remind you to have extra supplies on hand, get your home ready for winter and prepare for upcoming winter storms. Here's another step to add into your preparations, that will save you the time you'd spend shoveling and scraping snow.

Start by placing a tarp in the areas you normally have to scoop snow or even on your vehicle's windows. Next, laugh at all of your neighbors that are our in cold temperatures shoveling snow and scraping ice off their windshields.
