Never Get Tired Of Kids Loving Wyoming’s Most Popular Sport
Wyoming is the Cowboy State and the official state sport is rodeo. We could even go as far as saying the state hat could be a cowboy hat and the state shoe could be a cowboy boot. There are many kids that will ride a horse before they're able to walk.
It's needless to say that the sport means the world to many Wyomingites. You can tell by looking at the number of rodeos that happen around the state. Doesn't matter the size of the town, there's a good chance you're going to see a rodeo there.
Kids in Wyoming start rodeo young, with the thoughts of hitting the rodeo circuit and getting to Las Vegas with the goal of being a world champion.
In rodeo, the pay's not always good, injuries can happen at any time, and being on the road constantly, could all seem like the downsides. Of course there are upsides to the sport. You know, things like, the rush you get, the money you can make on a good night and knowing you just had a perfect ride.
Having talked to many current and former cowboys and cowgirls over the years, the passion for the sport starts early, for most, and lasts well after your time in the arena is over. That's why you see rodeo being a family legacy sport. Dad or mom was part of the rodeo when they were young, so when kids come along, they are naturally drawn to the lifestyle.
For some youngsters their first rodeo encounter may be on the back of a sheep, in a fun for the crowd too, round of mutton bustin', riding at a slow pace around barrels or maybe, just maybe, the back of a "bull".
It's always cool to see a young cowboy fall in love with every part of rodeo, and want check out this future bull rider.
