This past July, I got to be in the same room as Walter Longmire.

Ok, maybe it was actor Robert Taylor who played the lead role in the show Longmire, but still, it was Longmire. Other stars from the show were also in the room, such as A. Martinez (Jacob Nighthorse), John Bishop (Bob Barnes), and Derek Phillips (Travis Murphy). The Q&A event I attended was just one of the many that were part of the weekend's fun.

Longmire Days has quickly become one of my favorite summer traditions. For just a few days, the incredible town of Durant, Wyoming, comes to life thanks to the Longmire Foundation, the people of Buffalo, Wyoming, Longmire fans, and the show's cast.

Besides giving fans of the Longmire books and show an opportunity to blow off some steam, drink some Rainier Beer, and rub elbows with the cast and book series author Craig Johnson, fundraising is an integral part of the weekend.

The Longmire Foundation was formed to support the community and spread the love of "Absaroka County" and all that it holds. To do that, they donate funds raised from Longmire Days every year.

The foundation announced that $10,000 went to the Buffalo Police Department's Operation Blue Santa.

Through Operation Blue Santa, BPD identifies families who could benefit from additional support during the holidays and work diligently to address their needs. Their mission is to provide these families with the resources and assistance necessary to navigate their challenges.

With a focus on families who have fallen through the gaps of local support services, they strive to offer financial support and essential resources to empower them to provide for themselves. This commitment extends beyond monetary aid, encompassing a range of support services including gifts for children, assistance with rent, groceries, and essential expenses.

As long as Longmire Days continues, you can bet that I'll grab my posse of Longmire fans and head to Durant to celebrate, knowing that when the smoke clears, a community organization will benefit.
