Hunting is one of the biggest topics of conversation in Wyoming. When the draw happens, everyone wants to know what license you drew, where you're hunting, and what method you're going to use.

If you're new to hunting, knowing where to start can be tough, and you need that boost of encouragement. If you're a woman and looking for that encouragement, the Wyoming chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is offering a Women's Elk Camp in October.

The camp offers women hunters a chance to bond with one another and enjoy a few days of hunting, cooking, camping, and learning. Women of all ages and skill levels are welcome to apply, with a deadline of July 20.

The camp will be held near Atlantic City, WY, in Fremont County, which is hunt area 28, from October 9 - 13.

Since there are limited spots available, you'll need to fill out the application. If you're planning on harvesting an elk, you'll also need to purchase an elk license for hunt area 28. General elk licenses will be available over the counter for Wyoming residents. If you haven't taken a hunter's education course, you'll need to take one before the hunt in October. You can find out about the available courses on the Wyoming Game and Fish website.

If you're attending the camp, there will be a stewardship event to give back to Wyoming's public lands, and you'll learn about tracking, field dressing, and other hunting tips.

To apply, visit the BHA Wyoming website.
