Ricky Skaggs is back with his first new music in more than a decade, and it's a timely song that will resonate with country music fans and others alike.
What Is Ricky Skaggs' New Song?
"Say a Prayer" drops on Friday (June 26), and the iconic singer, instrumentalist and producer hopes it can have a genuine impact in difficult times.
"I’m incredibly excited to share my new single, ‘Say a Prayer,'" Skaggs states.
"The song addresses a world carrying a lot of grief right now, serving as a universal call for everyone to stop and lean into faith. It’s got a chorus that resonates with faith, country and rock audiences alike.”
Gordon Kennedy and Ben Cooper wrote “Say a Prayer,” which melds country, bluegrass and rock influences.
The arrangement also includes sitar, fiddle, mandolin and banjo, and the resulting track reaches out across genres and different communities, with impassioned lyrics centered on faith, reflection and unity.

Who Is Ricky Skaggs?
Ricky Skaggs is one of the most celebrated musicians of his generation.
The 15-time Grammy winner started his career early, playing with a young Keith Whitley as one of Ralph Stanley's Clinch Mountain Boys, then went on to a stint with Emmylou Harris' Hot Band before launching his solo career in 1980.

Skaggs went on to score 12 No. 1 hits, helping to bring traditional country back into the mainstream in the process.
He's won 8 CMA Awards, 9 ACM Awards and 15 Grammys, and he's a member of the Grand Ole Opry, as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Both the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum and the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame inducted Skaggs in 2016. In 2020, President Donald Trump awarded Skaggs the National Medal of Arts.
What Is Ricky Skaggs Doing in 2026?
Skaggs made a special appearance at CMA Fest in June, joining Carly Pearce and Molly Tuttle for a special performance of "From Now On."
He and his band, Kentucky Thunder, are on the road with Dierks Bentley for select dates of his Off the Map Summer Tour.
Skaggs is slated to return to the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to close out the Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series on July 21, and his studio in the Nashville suburb of Hendersonville, Skaggs Place Studio, has recently reopened for business after renovations.
