Toby Keith’s Will: Who Inherits His Staggering Fortune
Toby Keith was a stunningly wealthy man at the time of his death, and a new report reveals who inherits his massive estate according to the terms of his will.
In Touch has obtained court documents that Keith's wife, Tricia Covel, filed 15 days after his death on Feb. 5, asking to be named the administrator of his estate.

Covel asked the court to seal the contents of the will for security reasons. Her filing reveals that Keith went to some pretty extreme lengths to protect his family due to his success and staggering wealth, which became widely known after Forbes dubbed him "country music's $500 million man" in 2013.
Those steps included "having his home address and deed to his homestead sealed from the public record by court order, using an alias name for himself, his wife and children, and engaging a personal security company to provide security for himself and that of his family members at all times of the day and night, week and year."

Her filing reveals that Keith's will names her and the couple's three adult children — Rashelle Lashawn Covel, Krystal LaDawn Sandubrae and Stelen Keith Covel — as Keith's heirs. He executed the will on Feb. 15, 2022, just months after he publicly revealed his stomach cancer diagnosis.
“The Consents signed by each heir, together with a list of the LLC Interests, contain confidential information regarding not only the heirs but also the business interests of Toby at the time of his death," Covel's attorneys argue. "This information, if known to the public, would likely increase the threat to the safety and security of the Personal Representative and the heirs.”
A judge has granted Covel's request to keep the will sealed, and the probate case is still underway.
Though Keith made a fortune from his catalog of hit songs, his albums and touring endeavors, his financial interests extended way outside of music. His vast financial holdings included a restaurant chain, his Wild Shot Mezcal brand, his own record label, a stake in Big Machine Records, a horse farm, a golf course, a cannabis line and much more.
Keith died on Feb. 5, 2024, at the age of 62.
