Winter Storm Closes I-80 in SE Wyoming; I-25 Travel Restricted
I-80 closures continue today as a winter storm blasts SE Wyoming with freezing fog, snow, and ice. The Wyoming Department of Transportation reports dense fog at the Summit east of Laramie and poor visibility stretching the entire length of I-80.
When Will I-80 Reopen?
WY-DOT anticipates the interstate to reopen in 12 to 14 hours as of 6 a.m. on January 2. However, the estimated open time continues to change as winter conditions continue to impact I-80.
I-25 Updates
I-25 remains open but with restrictions, according to WY-DOT. However, the WY-DOT Travel Information Service recommends no unnecessary travel along the entire length of I-25, including Chugwater, Casper, and Horse Ranch Creek Rd.
Winter storm conditions are expected to batter SE Wyoming through Monday night, with conditions clearing by Tuesday morning.
