Poll: Should Laramie Replace Standard Billboards With Digital?
The Laramie City Council and the Planning Commission have a joint work session planned for April 22 on a proposal to replace five static billboards in the city with digital billboards.
Why Allow Digital Billboards?
According to City Councilman Matt Lockhart, the billboards would have the capability to run up to eight different ads on each billboard. The billboards would change every 12 seconds. That would open up the number of available billboard ads to more customers and allow more businesses to advertise.
Supporters of the proposal also say they would look nicer than the current static billboards they would replace.
As with anything, there are some who have reservations about the idea. Some Laramie residents just are not fans of billboards and would rather keep them out of the city. And there are those who worry that the digital billboards are more of a distraction to drivers than are standard billboards.
So what to you think? Should Laramie replace the current static billboards with digital billboards? Take our poll and give us your opinion!
