Start Jubilee-ing early with the Gem City Showdown. See the youths' hard work with their livestock pay off. Like, really pay off, to the tune of over $5,000 in cash prizes, plus bragging rights, of course.

The Albany County Fair Alumni Association (ACFAA) is hosting the 3rd Annual Gem City Showdown Livestock Show June 30-July 2. The Showdown fun will include an outdoor concert on Saturday night and several new vendors for a fun food and shopping experience during the show.

Taylor Haley, ACFAA Treasurer, said approximately 150 kids showed up last year from three different states. "We had LOTS of winners last year," Haley said. Livestock showing is for Market and Breeding: cattle, sheep, swine, and goats. Registration is open until June 28; to register, click here

"It is a relaxed show with activities for community members to see what these youth can do! We put on the Super Saturday event to involve the community. Community members can also become members of the Albany County Fair Alumni Association for $20 a year or $200 for life. The alumni association is new this year and will work to support the fairgrounds projects and the youth in the county," Haley added.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the ACFAA's mission to fund much-needed improvements to the fairgrounds and provide past and present Albany County Fairgrounds exhibitors with scholarships and other educational opportunities.
