As we approach the shortest day and the longest night of the year, the University of Wyoming Art Museum invites you to celebrate the Winter season with them!

They will be having spectacular three days events for the community to celebrate and embrace the season, including a festival of lights and the winter night sky, good food, and family art-making activities.

The Event Schedule

  • Location: University of Wyoming Art Museum (2111 E. Willett Dr.)

Wednesday, December 15th

  • 6 PM to 9 PM

Finals Week Wind Down: Destress from the pressure of finals week! UW Students are invited to cozy up in the museum classroom with some food and relaxing art-making activity.

  • 7 PM to 9 PM

Winter Night Sky and Art Viewing: Join UWAM Staff and representatives from the UW Astronomy Department to take a closer look at all the wonders of the winter night sky, and an up-close look at the celestial works of Michiko Itatani.

They'll have telescopes on the terrace, and gallery walks with Chief Curator, Nicole Crawford. Hot Winter drinks and treats to boot!
Friday, December 16th

  • 4 PM to 7 PM

Community Lantern Making: Join UWAM Teaching Artists for a community celebration of lights. Come make origami lanterns to take home to add to your own winter lights, and help us fill the museum lobby with community-made lanterns.

Warm winter drinks and treats will be served.

Saturday, December 17th

  • 10 AM to 1 PM

Community Winter Celebration: Various events awaits!
• Make your own fantasy winter creature based on Anton Ginzburg’s Hyperborea
• Learn the art of Ice Dying with UWAM Teaching artists
• Make origami winter lanterns to take home and decorate the museum lobby

So come and spend your days at the UW Art Museum! It will be a whole lot of fun!
