Standouts in volleyball, football, and cross-country were named the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week. These three winners competed well during the tenth week of the fall prep sports season for 2024-25. Emme Mullinax from Big Horn, Brayden Baker of Lander, and Tobyn Teigen from Wright were selected for the award. Mullinax led the Rams to three conference wins, Baker ran for a school record, and Teigen ran to a title.

WYOPREPS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK WINNERS 10-23-24

Girls Winner

Emme Mullinax led No. 1 Big Horn to three conference wins over No. 2 Tongue River, No. 3 Wright, and Moorcroft. All three victories were in straight sets and kept the Rams undefeated in conference play. Mullinax finished with 42 kills, 41 digs, and 4 serving aces. She had 17 of her kills against the rival Eagles. Mullinax added 12 against the third-rated Panthers and 13 more versus the Wolves.

WyoPreps visited with Emme about her performance last week. She discussed her big week and how big it was for the team, what led to her good play, the atmosphere against Tongue River in the No. 1 versus No. 2 showdown, how she and the team handles the favorite role, and more.

Boys Winners

Brayden Baker ran for a Lander Valley school record 303 yards in a 54-13 victory over Rawlins. The win kept Lander’s playoff hopes alive. Baker had four touchdowns. Those runs were 72, 63, 60, and 11 yards long.

WyoPreps caught up with Baker and discussed his big game. He told WyoPreps about the good feeling going into the game, how a big TD run early sparked the Tigers, what he’s seeing and looking for on run plays, what he loves about the game, and more.

Tobyn Teigen of Wright won the 2A East Conference Cross Country Championships last Thursday in Hulett. He ran 17:19.61 and pulled away to top the Powder River Conference competition. Teigen won by nearly 53 seconds. Tobyn’s efforts helped the Wright Panthers win the boys’ team title, as well.

Teigen spoke to WyoPreps about his victory, how well he ran, how he approached the course, helped the team, and more.
