Cheyenne hosts the 2025 Wyoming American Legion Baseball AA State Tournament at Powers Field from July 28 through August 1. It’s an eight-team, modified, double-elimination bracket. The Cheyenne Sixers are the five-time defending Double-A State Champions. They have won 21 of the last 24 titles at the top level in Wyoming. The winner advances to the Region 7 or Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament in Billings, MT.

Monday, July 28:

Final Score: (4) Sheridan Troopers 6 (5) Laramie Rangers 0 - Barney tossed a 1-hit shutout over 6 innings with 8 Ks. Sheridan took advantage of 2 walks, 4 hit batters, and 4 errors. Destefano had 2 hits (2B, 3B), & 1 RBI, and Baures added an RBI-double.

Final Score: (1) Gillette Riders 10 (8) Rock Springs Stallions 0 - It was 1-0 when Gillette broke it open with 8 runs in the 3rd inning. Caisen Schilling had 2 doubles & 2 RBIs, and Loftus added 2 hits (2B) & 2 RBIs. Ryker Smith allowed 1 hit over 4 IP with 5 Ks.

Final Score: (3) Casper Oilers 9 (6) Cheyenne Hawks 2 - Casper scored in all but one of their 6 at-bats. Christensen led the Oilers' offensive attack with 2 hits & 3 RBIs. C. Pexton added 2 RBIs, while Deveraux had 2 hits (2B) and 2 runs scored. Frogge had an RBI single for the Hawks.

Final Score: (2) Cheyenne Sixers 11 (7) Jackson Giants 1 - The Sixers jumped out to a 7-0 lead and closed it out early. McAnelly was 3-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. They also took advantage of 3 hit batters, 4 walks, and 4 errors.

Tuesday, July 29:

Final Score: Laramie Rangers 10 Rock Springs Stallions 5 - Rock Springs is eliminated - The Rangers had a 3-0 lead, but the Stallions rallied and tied it. Laramie regained the lead with 2 runs in the 5th and added 5 more in the 6th to pull away. Malone had 3 hits (2B, 3B), 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored for Laramie. Rock Springs took advantage of 9 walks & 4 hit batters.

Final Score: Cheyenne Hawks 10 Jackson Giants 1 -��Jackson is eliminated - The Hawks broke open a scoreless game with 5 runs in the 5th and added 5 more in the 6th. Vines threw 5.1 innings of no-hit ball. Tafoya had 3 hits (3B) & 2 RBIs, while Moore added 2 hits & 2 RBIs for Cheyenne. Jackson was held to 1 hit.

Final Score: Sheridan Troopers 2 Gillette Riders 1 - Sheridan rallied with 2 runs on an RBI double by Araas to tie it and took the lead on an error. Greer allowed 1 run on 2 hits with 3 Ks and 5 walks over 6.2 IP.

Final Score: Cheyenne Sixers 5 Casper Oilers 3 - Cheyenne rallied from a 3-0 deficit after the top of the 1st. They tied it in the 3rd and won it in the 5th with two runs. The go-ahead run scored on a wild pitch, and Crecelius added an RBI single. Horton also had an RBI single, while Robbins had 2 hits & 1 run scored for Cheyenne. Casper scored on a groundout, Kole Pexton RBI single, and a fielder's choice.

Wednesday, July 30:

Final Score: Gillette Riders 6 Cheyenne Hawks 5 - 9 innings - The Hawks are eliminated - The Riders won it on Hecker's walk-off, game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 9th. Both teams scored 4 runs in the 3rd and added another in the 7th. Hecker had 2 hits & 2 RBIs, and Partlow contributed a 3-run triple for Gillette. Broda had 2 hits & 2 RBIs for the Hawks.

Final Score: Casper Oilers 8 Laramie Rangers 3 - Laramie is eliminated - Casper scored in each of the first 4 innings, including 4 runs with 2 outs in the 4th. Nicholls had 3 doubles, 2 RBIs, & 3 runs scored. Hagar added 2 RBIs on a single & a sacrifice fly. Aragon led Laramie with 2 hits & 1 RBI.

Final Score: Sheridan Troopers 4 Cheyenne Sixers 2 - Sheridan rallied from an early 1-0 deficit. They scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning to take the lead, but Cheyenne tied it in the bottom of that frame. The Troopers took the lead on a Phillips 2-run single in the 5th. Switzenberg threw a complete game. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits with 5 Ks and 1 walk on 89 pitches.

Thursday, July 31:

AFTER A 3-HOUR WEATHER DELAY... GAMES WILL BE GETTING UNDERWAY...

Final Score: Gillette Riders 1 Cheyenne Sixers 0 - Cheyenne is eliminated - Gillette got an RBI single from Cason Loftus in the 5th, and Riley Schilling made it stand up. He allowed 3 hits with 4 Ks and 3 walks. Zach Hall threw a great game for Cheyenne, as he gave up just 1 run on 3 hits over 5.1 innings pitched.

Final Score: Casper Oilers 11 Sheridan Troopers 5 - Casper advances to Day 5. The Oilers scored 3 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings to take control. Christensen smashed a 3-run HR in the 2nd inning. Nicholls added 2 hits & 2 runs scored. Cobey Pexton added a triple and 2 RBIs. Phillips & Destefano had 2 doubles & 2 RBIs each for Sheridan.

Friday, August 1:

Final Score: Gillette Riders 2 Casper Oilers 1 - 8 inningsCasper is eliminated - The Riders won in the bottom of the 8th on an error. Cason Loftus had 3 hits and got the win in relief. Riley Hawk added an RBI single for Gillette. Casper was led by Holden Christensen, who had an RBI double in the first inning.

State Championship Game Final Score: Gillette Riders 4 Sheridan Troopers 3 - The Riders took advantage of 3 errors to score all 4 of their runs. They tallied in the 2nd and 3rd for a 2-0 lead. Sheridan trimmed it to 2-1 in the 5th, but Gillette tacked on two more for a 4-1 lead. The Troopers scored twice on bases-loaded walks in the 7th, but a fielder's choice ground ball ended the game. Cason Loftus got the save in relief of winning pitcher Grayson Sargent. The two teams combined for 4 total hits in the game. It is Gillette's third state championship in program history and its first since 2014. Loftus was the State Tournament MVP.

 

The Wyoming state champ will advance to play Alaska at the Region 7 or Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. It is at Dehler Park in Billings, MT, on Aug. 6-10, 2025. The American Legion World Series is Aug. 14-19, in Shelby, NC.
