Lauren Olsen of Douglas is Wyoming High School Girls Basketball’s All-Time Leading Scorer
Lauren Olsen has been an instant offense since she set foot on a high school basketball court. On Saturday at home, the Douglas senior broke the state record for most points in a Wyoming High School girls' basketball career. Thanks to two free throws with 1:13 left in the first quarter, Olsen established a new record.
Entering the weekend, the senior was 59 points behind the state mark of 2,303 points in a career. That belonged to Lander's Tahnee Robinson, who played for the Tigers from 2002-06. Olsen exploded for 44 points in a road win at Glenrock on Friday night. That meant she only needed 16 points in front of her home crowd, and Lauren didn't waste too much time, as she accomplished the feat before the first quarter was finished.
Douglas took a timeout and the celebration was on for the all-time leading scorer of prep girls' basketball in state history. Olsen finished the game with 31 points and is at 2,319 career points and counting. Congratulations to Lauren Olsen! February 1, 2025, will be a day she'll remember for a long time.
Olsen is a three-time state champion and three-time all-state selection. In 2024, she was named the 3A East Player of the Year. In November, Olsen signed to play college basketball at Cal Baptist University in Riverside, CA.
