Girls’ Poll Sees More Movement as Powell, Cheyenne Central Return to WyoPreps Top Five

The girls’ rankings featured more change compared to the boys in the eighth edition of the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Basketball Polls released on Wednesday from WyoPreps.com. Powell and Cheyenne Central re-entered the rankings for the first time since December. Meanwhile, Rock Springs rejoined the boys’ poll after a week out. Powell’s conference win at Lovell last week moved the Panthers into the 3A top five for the first time since the preseason rankings. In 4A, Cheyenne Central rejoined the top five for the first time since the second poll of the season. They are tied for fifth with Thunder Basin.

The other change in 3A was that Lander’s win at Pinedale in league play helped the Tigers climb back to No. 2, while the Wranglers slid to third. 4A’s top three remained East, Green River, and Laramie. Star Valley edged up to fourth. Two teams flipped spots in 2A girls, as Greybull’s head-to-head win over Tongue River moved the Lady Buffs to fourth. Nothing was different in the 1A top five.

1 = Cokeville

2 = Burlington

3 = Southeast

4 = Little Snake River

5 = Upton

Class 2A:

1 = Big Horn

2 = Sundance

3 = Wyoming Indian

4 = Greybull

5 = Tongue River

Class 3A:

1 = Cody

2 = Lander

3 = Pinedale

4 = Wheatland

5 = Powell

Class 4A:

1 = East

2 = Green River

3 = Laramie

4 = Star Valley

T5 = Thunder Basin

T5 = Cheyenne Central

Not As Much Changed in the Boys Rankings

The Tigers’ blowout of rival Green River at home last Friday was enough to put Rock Springs back into the 4A top five at No. 5. Powell and Lander traded spots in 3A, as the Panthers moved up to third, and the Tigers fell to fourth. Sheridan in 4A and Lovell in 3A were unanimous picks for No. 1. Class 1A and 2A did not change from last week’s rankings.

2 = Lusk

3 = Saratoga

4 = Upton

5 = Cokeville

Class 2A:

1 = Thermopolis
