Burns came into the 2A Girls State Basketball Tournament with a record under .500 and left the tournament under .500. But the Broncs also took home the championship trophy as they beat their Southeast Wyoming rival Lingle-Fort Laramie 48-36 on Saturday in Casper. Burns was a #4 seed coming into the tournament and knocked off defending champion Rocky Mountain in the first round and prevailed over Sundance in the semi-final round.

In that 2A title game, the Broncs found themselves down by 12 but rallied in the 2nd quarter to trail by just 2 at the intermission. Lingle-Fort Laramie went ice-cold from the field in the 2nd half, making just 6 shots out of 40 attempts. The Doggers were outscored 18-5 in the 4th quarter and Burns won this game despite a whopping 38 turnovers.

Burns was led by Daljit Kaur with 15 and Savannah Kirkbride added 13. It was the first state title for the Broncs in the history of the school and finished 14-15 this season. LFL was led by Jordynn Speckner with 10 with Ashlee Hatten throwing in 7. The Doggers went 20-8 for the year.
