The Campbell County football team has very high hopes for the 2024 season. They are looking to advance past the quarterfinal round of the 4A playoffs for the first time since 2016 and have a 1-2 punch on offense led by quarterback Mason Drube, who has verbally committed to the University of Wyoming, and running back Trent Rosenau, who rushed for 1107 yards last season.

The Camels opened the 4A season with a convincing 34-0 win over Kelly Walsh in Gillette and started the scoring in the 1st quarter with a 13-yard run for a touchdown by Rosenau. In the 2nd quarter, Drube found Adam Gibson for 61 yards and a score to at this point Campbell County led 13-0.

Kelly Walsh endured a tough fourth quarter, surrendering 21 points. Rosenau had a 5-yard run to the end zone, Raynor Ranum recovered a Trojan fumble for a touchdown, and Drube hooked up with Gibson for a 70-yard scoring connection.

The Camels will be on the road this week at Cheyenne Central and Kelly Walsh will have their home opener on Friday hosting Laramie. We have some all-star photos of Friday's game in Gillette, compliments of Kellie Jo Allison. They can be located in our gallery below. Enjoy!
