Cheyenne East showed a lot of fortitude on the football field back on Friday, overcoming a sluggish 1st quarter to beat Kelly Walsh in Casper 29-20. East had their hands full with KW running back Landon Walker who rang up 3 rushing touchdowns in the first quarter alone. He had runs of 8, 65, and 79 yards to the house and finished the night with 197 yards on the ground. East found the end zone in the opening quarter as quarterback Nolan Horton threw a 62-yard touchdown pass to Aydan Riccardo.

Those two connected on another touchdown pass for the Thunderbirds in the second quarter, and East trailed 20-14 at the halftime break. In the 3rd quarter, Cheyenne East went ahead on a 1-yard run for a score from Keyshawn Brown to make it 21-20. Horton added a 15-yard TD run in the 4th quarter to increase the lead to 29-20 and that's the way it stayed.

East is 5-1 on the year and will host Cheyenne Central in the Capital Bowl on Friday. The Trojans are 3-3 and will host Natrona in the 60th annual Oil Bowl,  on Friday night.
