Football teams around the state were vying for playoff spots and playoff seeds over the weekend. In 4A. Kelly Walsh nipped Rock Springs 22-15 so KW finishes the regular season with a record of 4-5 while the Tigers went 3-6.

Rock Springs opened the scoring in Friday night's game at the Harry Geldein Stadium with a 20-yard run for a touchdown from Ben Fowler to make it 7-0. In the 2nd quarter, the speedy Landon Walker reeled off a 12-yard run to the end zone for the Trojans, and with the 2-point try, it was 8-7. Walker also caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Carter Alvar which increased the lead to 15-7. Wyatt Humble followed that up with a 43-yard gallop to the house so Kelly Walsh was looking good at 22-7.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Rock Springs jumped right back into the game with a 4-yard run for a score from Sam Thornhill, and with the successful 2-point try, the Tigers trailed 22-15. The KW defense held Rock Springs out of the end zone the rest of the way to break a 4 game-losing streak.

KW will play at cross-town rival Natrona on Friday in the 1st round of the 4A playoffs. The Trojans are the #5 seed and Rock Springs is the #7 seed. The Tigers will be on the road this week at Campbell County.
