Photofest: Mountain View Downs Rival Lyman in 2A Football
Mountain View and Lyman renewed their longtime rivalry on the gridiron to conclude the 2A regular season last week and in a hard-fought game, Mountain View prevailed 20-6. That win gave the Buffs the #1 seed from the West in the 2A playoffs with a record of 8-1. Lyman ended the season at 2-7 and the Eagles will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2018
Lyman started the scoring in this contest with a 7-yard run to the end zone from Jevin Maxfield to give the Eagles an early 6-0 lead. The defenses were stout for both teams but Mountain View finally scored in the 4th quarter on a 5-yard TD run from Justus Platts. The young man is a terrific football player and had a terrific 4th quarter in this game as he added a pair of 24-yard runs for scores.
Mountain View starts the 2A postseason tournament at home on Friday as they'll host Wheatland. The Buffs have qualified for the playoffs in 12 of the last 13 years. We have some first-class photos from the MV-Lyman game from Dell Barnes and you can check those out in our gallery below. Enjoy!
