Wyoming Alpine Ski Season Ends With State Championships in Jackson

The Wyoming High School Alpine Skiing State Championships are in Jackson this weekend to conclude the 2026 season. This year’s championships return to Snow King Mountain Resort on Friday and Saturday. Jackson swept last year’s event, but neither of those champions returns this season. That means new champions will be crowned in all four individual races. The Broncs have won both team titles over the last decade-plus.

WyoPreps visited with Jackson Hole High School Alpine Skiing head coach Cody Hansen to preview this year’s culminating event. He discussed the host role, how they choose the mountain to ski on, the course conditions, the talent and depth of the Jackson squads, and more, in the video at the top of this story.

GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Jackson (seeking 17th title in a row & 46th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = There will be a new champion in each race.

Teams Participating = Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale.

Schedule:

Friday: Giant Slalom on Elk Ski run at Snow King Mountain, 10 a.m. Varsity girls will ski first.

Saturday: Slalom on Cougar Ski run at Snow King Mountain, 10 a.m. Varsity girls will ski first.

The last time a skier who was not from Jackson won an alpine skiing state championship race was in 2015.

BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Jackson (trying for a 15th consecutive title, 45th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = There will be a new champion in each race.

The weather forecast calls for snow showers on Friday during the GS race. Saturday is expected to see improved conditions with sun mixed with clouds.
