Jackson’s Ruby Hoelscher Repeats as Gatorade Wyoming Girls Soccer Player of the Year
Jackson Hole High School sophomore Ruby Hoelscher was selected as the Gatorade Wyoming Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the second consecutive season on Wednesday. This award is for the 2024-25 season. In its 40th year of honoring the best high school athletes in the nation, The Gatorade Company announced this year’s winner.
Hoelscher led the Broncs to the Class 4A state championship in the 2025 season and a 17-3 record. It was Jackson’s first 4A title and first girls’ soccer crown since 2016. The 5-6 sophomore scored 31 goals and dished out 17 assists. She scored six goals and tallied two assists in Jackson’s three-match run to the state championship. Hoelscher is a two-time first-team all-state choice by the coaches in Wyoming. She is already the school record-holder for goals.
In the classroom, Hoelscher maintains a weighted GPA of 4.15. She will begin her junior year in the fall. Ruby has already verbally committed to playing soccer at the University of Wyoming. Hoelscher is a member of her school’s varsity ski team. She has donated her time tutoring Spanish-speaking peers who are English Language Learners, in addition to tutoring in math, science, and social studies. A member of her school’s literary magazine staff, Ruby has volunteered locally as a youth soccer coach. She also holds down a summer job with Bistro Catering in Jackson.
Eric Simmondsen, a director for the Boise Timbers/Thorns club team, praised Hoelscher for her all-around play in the release from The Gatorade Company.
“Ruby’s commitment to discipline, competition, and sportsmanship standards often exceeds those around her. A team player who works relentlessly on and off the ball while also scoring goals and providing assists, Ruby works equally as hard in the defensive third.”
This award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. It distinguishes Hoelscher as Wyoming’s best high school girls’ soccer player. She is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year award, to be announced later this month.
