The Worland boys cross country team had a day to remember on Saturday in Cheyenne as they captured their first team State Championship and also produced an individual champion for the first time since 1991. The Warriors placed 3 guys in the top 7 led by Trajn Swalstad who capped his amazing senior season with a convincing victory. He covered the Little America course in 16:07.99 and finally made it to the top of the mountain after finishing 2nd last year. His teammate, Will Bishop who finished 14th last year vaulted up to #4 and that gave the Worland a huge lift as they edged Buffalo for 1st place, 41-42.

Buffalo had 2 guys in the top 3 as Zach Freise took 2nd in 16:32.01 and Ethan Rayo was 3rd in 16:46.37. A year ago, Freise took 7th at the State Cross Country Meet and Rayo made some serious progress this year after finishing 18th in 2023.
