2024 Wyoming High School Girls Swimming and Diving State Championships At-A-Glance

The 2024 Wyoming High School Girls Swimming and Diving State Championships are this weekend in Cheyenne at East High School. The Cheyenne East Aquatics Facility will host the championships over three days. The Class 3A Championships are on Thursday and Friday, followed by the Class 4A Championships on Friday and Saturday. Here is a brief look at the teams competing, defending champions, and the schedule.

CLASS 3A:

Teams Participating = Buffalo, Cody, Douglas, Kemmerer, Lander, Lyman, Newcastle, Powell, Rawlins, Sublette County, Worland.

Defending Champs = None: last year's champ GR is now in 4A.

Returning/Defending Event Champs = 200 freestyle: Lara Robertson, Lander; 500 freestyle: Lara Robertson, Lander; 100 backstroke: Katy Anderson, Lander; 400 free relay: Lander.

There will be a new champion in the five other individual events, diving, and two relays.

Schedule =

Thursday: Diving Prelims & Semis, 2:00 p.m.; Swim Prelims, approx. 4:00 p.m.

Friday: All Event Finals, 10 a.m.

CLASS 4A:

Teams Participating = Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Thunder Basin

Defending Champ = Kelly Walsh

Returning/Defending Event Champs = 200 medley relay: Jackson; 200 freestyle: Maren Tattersall, Jackson; Diving: Maggie Turpin, Laramie; 100 butterfly: Amaya Olivieri, Jackson; 200 free relay: Kelly Walsh; 100 backstroke: Amaya Olivieri, Jackson; 400 free relay: Jackson.

There will be a new champion in the five other individual events.

Green River’s Tavia Arnell and Tanith Smith are also defending champions in individual events at the 3A level. The Wolves are now in Class 4A. Evanston's Rachel Johnson won the 3A diving last year, but the Red Devils are also in 4A this year.

Schedule =

Friday: Diving Prelims & Semis, 4 p.m.; Swim Prelims, approx. 6:30 p.m.

Friday: All Event Finals, 10 a.m.

This is the first time Cheyenne East will host a state championship in their new aquatics facility.
